15 Things To Do In Copenhagen. Travel Guide With Out Pictures Of Objects.

Denmark and Copenhagen never were on my top list to visit. But when you find a great flight deal for €2 (both ways), you could not miss an opportunity to visit a new destination.
So on July 25th of 2015, I landed at Copenhagen airport, and our 30h journey began.

How to get to the city center from the airport?

It’s very simple, go to the metro station at the airport. The metro station is located in a direct extension of Terminal 3. The Metro runs every 4–6 minutes during the day and evening hours, and at 15–20-minute intervals at night. It takes around 15min to get to Nørreport station in the city center.

Free things to do in Copenhagen

  1. The Little Mermaid Statue – is the symbol of Copenhagen. The statue was created in 1913 by the sculptor Edvard Eriksen as a tribute to the author Hans Christian Andersen, and it’s inspired by Andersen’s eponymous fairytale. The sculpture is displayed on a rock by the waterside at the Langelinie promenade in Copenhagen.
  2. Nyhavn – is a 17th-century waterfront, canal, and entertainment district. Colorful buildings line the canal and hint at a history of small-vessel traffic. Take a walk by the harbor and enjoy the stunning architecture.
  3. Christiania – is a free Freetown of hippies and artists with a set of its own rules. We recommend it to visit during daylight hours as it is safer than it used to be 10 years ago, but still not the safest place in Copenhagen. Also beware of the signs, because in some parts of Christiania you could not take pictures.
  4. Christiansborg Palace – once the home of kings and queens, now the home of Danish Parliament, Danish Prime Minister’s Office, and the Supreme Court of Denmark. Christiansborg Palace is in the center of Copenhagen and has more than 800 years of history.
  5. Amalienborg Palace – is the place to be to see a Changing the Guard ceremony in Copenhagen. The ceremony takes place every day leaving Rosenborg Castle at 11:30 to arrive at Amalienborg Palace for the ceremony at 12:00.
